Iditarod 2009 is almost here!

David and I just got back from an exciting week in Nome. Jeff won - and Salem was in lead a great deal of the race! In fact he was awarded the Golden Harness Award which is given to the single most outstanding dog in that current Iditarod (out of hundreds and hundreds!) I was so proud, I admit to blubbering through the award ceremonies. I have never been prouder than anyone than when they placed the garland of roses over Salem's shoulders.
Ever since I began writing this book I have been teasing Jeff that he needed to win the Iditarod with Salem in lead since the dog was the star of my story. Well! Jeff is now saying Salem's performance in this Iditarod is one of the greatest he has ever seen in his career - nearly thirty years of racing sled dogs!
So we await publication of Running with Champions. The editorial staff have been great and I think it will be something a lot of people will enjoy.
